Hello peeps,
Why do some people feel the need to email me and leave comments saying they can't see the winners name? I did say I would announce the winner today or tomorrow, so my not in the least bit sincere apologies to the candy grabbers who are waiting impatiently for me to stop having a life and spending time with my family!!! Maybe I shouldn't bother to check if the person with the winning number is a follower of mine and has only entered once to make sure everyone had a fair chance at winning!
This is the second candy I have held where I have had people emailing me straight away wanting to know if they have won and to be honest it has put me off of holding another candy right now which I intended doing.
The people who have emailed me are followers who have joined in the past couple of weeks and will vanish when they see they haven't won, and unfortunately won't even bother reading this to know it's them I am naffed off with.

oh I totally agree with your rant hun, and know that feeling well, it is so frustrating when people follow you to grab the goodies and then leave you if they do not win, I am sure you are the same as me that would wish someone to follow you because they love your work and not just because you are very generous and like to celebrate on certain occasions.

OMG I know what you mean - do they have a life. I am more likely to lose out becasue I forget to check or just don't have the time to see if I win anything. You did make me laugh though. Well said Mandy.. but wow some people amaze me!!! I was really disappointed with my last Blogaversary candy winner .. I have never seen her since I sent her the goodies. I think its appauling - when I held my first birthday blog candy, I had a big influx of followers, alot did stay, but alot did go too - I absolutely hate that and I always make sure any candy goes to genuine followers when I use random.org - I however can't believe people actually emailed you to find out if they had won .... How rude of people to email you to see if they have won. I pop by all the blogs I have entered but would never dream of emailing someone to find out if I had won. Follow the blogs and you will find out anyway. You are quite right to rant, I would be fuming. I hope these people read this and might make them think in future. I am learning more and more that there are those who will selfishly grab away at anything they can get, but to hound someone about it is even worse. Do people really think we do not have lives? Any new followers who joined after the candy was posted was not able to enter. Maybe thats the way to go in the future! I still cant believe that they pester you for the winner!! ReplyDeleteI also get rather p....ed of with those that join with the chance of hopefully taking the main prize and never coming back again after theyve done so. And if you look its mainly other countries as well who are the worse ones, they really only have blogs that carry blogcandy and nothing else.

I can totally understand your rant as I would feel the same too but hope you don't think that all your new followers are only following for the candy some of us want to be inspired by what you do. I regularly look at the blogs I follow when new posts are made using the blog roll in my sidebar, and try to leave comments when I see something I really like. I'm relatively new to blogging and would hope that I don't give this bad impression. I usually come across blogs which are new to me, like yours, by seeing a link on a blog that I'm already following. Girl, you have a right to rant!! Out of the goodness of your heart you give a chance to win something we would love to have. But at the same token, it would be better given to those who come here to be inspired, whether to win or not to win.

ReplyDeleteMandy, Loved your rant and it was right to let them know how we ALL feel!! I was picturing you sitting at your PC letting your fingers do the walking and your mad mad hair flying all over the place but how do they keep up with your mind - when I have a rant on the PC I end up with loads of errors and sp mistakes etc. Then I have to rant some more as I am so angry that I have to redo my work he he.......

ReplyDeleteMandy, I haven't been following your blog for very long but I totally understand your feelings concerning the candy snatchers. That's the unfortunate downside to publicizing giveaways. I enter a lot of giveaways and I follow a lot of blogs but I don't do so just for the candy. Of the few I have won so far, all have been from blog hops and they have all been relatively small but I'm still tickled pink every time I get that email notifying me that my number came up. Since I have been unemployed for over 9 months, I am very thankful and appreciative of every extra little goody I receive. They add to my modest stash and give me something to look forward to while I'm looking for work.
I love your blog and all of your wonderful creations. So don't get down-hearted because of a few greedy people. What goes around comes around!
